Continuing a tradition of celebrating child education with focus on qualitative science-based learning for children, Africa’s leading mobile maker and leader in Nigeria mobile market, Tecno as part of the children’s day celebration has awarded scholarships to primary school pupils in Lagos.

The mobile giant Tecno modelled its second quarter 2016 corporate social responsibility as a brand experience and educational contest for children schooling at several primary schools, mostly public, situated in the Lagos metropolis.

Speaking on Tecno ’s brand activity which started on May 18, 2016 and targeted at primary schools in Lagos, the brand’s marketing and PR lead, Attai Oguche said Tecno ’s aim of the contest is to instill healthy competitive spirit in children, to pursue success in life through academic excellence.

In his words: “We aim to use Tecno brand as a vehicle of growing healthy competition for academic excellence amongst our children. While cultivating the next generation of mobile users in Tecno’s excellent brand experience, providing them with a form of study safety net is our priority this children’s day,” says Attai Oguche
The two week long Tecno CSR activities included donations of branded gift items to pupils at the schools’ assembly grounds and stocking of the school libraries of beneficiary primary schools with quality stationeries.

The principal administrators of the schools including principals of Abesan primary school Ipaja, St. Andrew’s Anglican primary school Ayobo, Community primary school Ipaja, St. Anthony Int’l schools Ijaiye, Marian International Isolo, State Primary school Ipaja and Estate nursery and primary school Ipaja expressed their gratitude towards Tecno for its sustained support of child education at the elementary level even in the recent harsh economic times.

“Tecno has shown strong commitment to supporting quality education for the Nigerian child. In the harsh economic times facing the country, we have seen brands soft peddle in CSR commitments but Tecno has remained true,” said Mrs. Jenle Efemena, Head mistress of St. Anthony Int’l schools Ijaiye.

The 2016 Children’s day contest held today culminated in scholarship awards being given by Tecno to the three best participating pupils from the participating public and private schools in Lagos state.

The winners took home a cash prize of a hundred thousand naira (N100, 000.00) each amidst branded gift items.

Tecno is a leading producer of in-demand, high-end mobile phones. Founded in 2006, the company has procured 50% share in Africa’s smart phone market.
