The Dean of College of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Arunsi Ukairo Kalu disclosed this at the professional Oath-taking ceremony of 19 graduating Doctors of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) of the school.

He said, “MOUA Veterinary Medicine post-graduate programme has been approved, advertised and shall take off later in this 2015/2016 session in all departments of the college, adding that staff to run the programme have been recruited from all parts of the country.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Hilary Odo Edeoga, in his address, said the MOUA attaches great importance to the training of veterinary doctors and would support all programmes and activities geared towards the enhancement of research, teaching and learning while taking into cognizance the fact that the production of quality veterinary surgeons is capital intensive.

According to him, attaining food security without veterinary medicine is not easily possible hence we made it one of our crucial departments despite it being expensive to run. Veterinary training in this university was approved at MOUA Senate the 67th Regular meeting on July 28, 2004, when I was the Deputy Vice Chancellor.
