The Pastor-in-charge of the Redeemed Christian Church, Akwa Ibom Province 5 with its headquarters at Uyo Village Road, Opposite Eco Bank, Uyo, Goke Aniyeloye will on January 4 to 6, 2016, hold a three-day programme, themed: “Attend To Me, Oh, Lord.” The event being the second edition, according to Pastor Aniyeloye, who spoke to ISAAC TAIWO on the programme, recently.
COULD you tell Nigerians what this event is all about?

“Attend To Me, Oh, Lord” is a monthly programme and for the month of January the theme will be: “Power for the New Beginning” and it would hold at 67, Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo Opposite Eco Bank between January 4 and 6, 2016. It is a three-day programme.

We have decided to have this programme because we know that the Lord has not forgotten this nation. Things may be rough today, but we believe the word of God that says, “weeping may tarry till night, but joy cometh in the morning” is behind this nation.

We spent 2015 as the year of foundation laying. I believe strongly that the Lord is going to help the present regime to build on the foundation they have laid in 2015, while 2016 will be the year of restoration. The Almighty God is going to restore the glory of this nation and will bring back our pride as a nation.

The way the present administration took off was an indication that things would be better. Though, there are some cabals out there, that are working against the progress of the nation, we are praying for the government to succeed and I see it succeeding.

We want to spend the days to pray to God to attend to us and as God heard the prayers of the children of Israel, He would hear our cry and we affirm that next year is a year of restoration, the year that the Lord will bring back our glory and all that the country has lost.

What should be the expectation of participants as they attend this event?

Apart from the fact that the Lord would do a new thing in the nation, He would put smiles on the faces of the people of Akwa Ibom State. I believe that the state too has been looking up to God for greater blessings and this is the time to smile.

There would also be salvation of souls, miracles, deliverances and blessings from the Most High God. Every avenue of failures would be closed and new chapters of success would be opened. Defeat would be a thing of the past, while victory would be celebrated. Losses would be replaced by gains. The programme is loaded with blessings and we are believing God for a new beginning in the New Year for the nation and the state of Akwa Ibom.

On the economy

I know that the governor of Akwa Ibom has been doing everything possible to attract small-scale enterprise. If we do not know how to go about things, we would be suffering amidst plenty. Each state of the federation has been given a minimum of N2 billion to be shared to beef up small-scale enterprises.

Recently, the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria attended a seminar in Abuja, representatives from SMEs were also in attendance in respect of this particular loan. All I think the government should do is to spend the loan on what it is meant for. I learnt some state governments have diverted the loan, which is an indication that our leaders are not God-fearing. It is unfortunate that the past administration did not do well enough concerning this issue, which the present government is trying to correct. If the past administration has done well, it would have been easier for the present administration.

Any recognised SME has the opportunity of accessing the loan to a minimum of N500,000 and up to N5m from the bank. We may necessarily not go through commercial banks as some of these money has been disbursed to micro-finance banks, where it would be easier to access this loan.

What is your advice concerning the fight against corruption and insecurity?

The present government is doing everything to fight insecurity and corruption as we can see. Buhari should not listen to corrupt leaders that are trying to distract his attention and should know that he is serving Nigerians that voted him to power. He should be prepared to step on toes and I believe Nigerians are backing him. He is expected to perform more in 2016.

What is your New Year message to Nigerians?

The Lord would help us to cross over successfully to 2016. Two major things would work positively for the people in 2016. Desperation to succeed and integrity, integrity has to do with righteousness and the expectations of the righteous would not be cut short. I see many Nigerians making it, having a breakthrough. With the men of integrity in this administration who trust in God, we believe God would use them to effect the change Nigeria is looking for in 2016.
