Living in the present means seizing the moment and making good use of the opportunities at your disposal. It means not living in resentment as a result of the past mistakes, hurts, failures and disappointments of yesterday.

Text: Philippians 3:13-14

Key Verse: Philippians 3:131, “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before” (KJV).

Living in the present means seizing the moment and making good use of the opportunities at your disposal. It means not living in resentment as a result of the past mistakes, hurts, failures and disappointments of yesterday. Seize the opportunity of the new day and create the desired life you have been longing for. Yesterday’s victories are not enough to stop you from advancing your life, business, academics and career to the next level. You can do better today and take new territories in your sphere of influence. You also need to forgive yourself about yesterday’s mistakes and advance today. Today can mark the beginning of great things in your life if you seize the moment and recreate your life. Living in the past means you are surrendering your power of creating a desired future and that is fatal. If there are changes you would like to make in life, it is best to do it now. If you’re worrying about the future, you’re living somewhere that doesn’t exist. It hasn’t happened yet. If you want to change your life, the only place you can do it is in the present.

Take hold of your life today and take absolute charge of it. One day you shall stand before God to give account of how you spent your life here on earth. Stop living your life in YESTERDAY, with its mistakes and cares, its faults and blunders, its aches and pains. YESTERDAY has passed forever beyond our control. All the money in this world cannot bring back YESTERDAY. You cannot undo a single act you performed. You cannot erase a single word you said. YESTERDAY is gone. Someone said, “Even though you may not be able to change your past, you should not allow your future take you unaware.”

The other day you should not worry about is TOMORROW. With its possible adversities, its burdens, its large promise and poor performance. TOMORROW is also beyond our immediate control. TOMORROW‘s sun will rise, either in splendor or behind a mask of clouds, but it will rise. Until it does, we have no stake in TOMORROW, for it is yet unborn. This just leaves only one day . . . TODAY. We usually worry about tomorrow after those life shattering moments. We worry because we are not sure what it holds for us. We are afraid because we think we cannot move our lives beyond it. We need not worry about tomorrow because it is an illusion rather we should choose to live our lives in the present and that is now. Any person can fight the battles of just one day. It is only when you and I add the burdens of those two awful eternities –YESTERDAY and TOMORROW that we break down. It is not the experience of TODAY that drives people mad. It is the remorse or bitterness for something, which happened YESTERDAY and the dread of what TOMORROW may bring.

“Let us therefore LIVE BUT ONE DAY AT A TIME.” ~ Author Unknown
There was once an absent-minded professor who became so absorbed in his work that he forgot the simplest details. One morning his wife said, “Now Henry, remember, we are moving today. Here, I’m putting this note in your pocket. Don’t forget.” The day passed by and the man came home to his house. He entered the front door, and found the place empty. Distraught, he walked out to the curb and sat down. A young boy walked up to him, and he asked him, “Little boy, do you know the people who used to live here?” The boy replied, “Sure, Dad, mom told me you’d forget.”
Today’s Nugget: LIVE BUT ONE DAY AT A TIME.

Prayer: Lord, help me to seize the moment and make good use of opportunities at my disposal in Jesus Name, Amen.
