Man is a product of Divine consultation and agreement (Gen. 1: 26-27).

“Then God said, let us make man in our image, according to our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.

So, God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”

Genesis 1:28 says: “Then God blessed them and God said to them, Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Even though God obviously did not create us exactly like Himself, because God has no physical body, yet we are reflections of God’s glory. Our entire self reflects the image of God.

We have the ability to reflect God’s character in our love, patience, forgiveness, kindness and faithfulness.

When we know that we are made in God’s image and thus share many of His characteristics, it provides the solid basis for self-worth.

Human worth is not based on possessions, achievements, physical attractiveness or public acclaim; instead it is based on being made in God’s image. Because we bear God’s image, we can feel positive about ourselves.

Criticising or downgrading ourselves is criticising what God has made and the abilities He has given us.

Knowing that you are a person of worth helps you to love God, know Him personally, and make a valuable contribution to those around you.

God made both man and woman in His image. Neither man nor woman is made more in the image of God than the other.

From the beginning, the Bible places both man and woman at the pinnacle of God’s creation. Neither sex is exalted and neither is depreciated.

To have dominion over something is to have absolute authority and control over it.

God has ultimate rule over the earth and He exercises His authority with loving care.

When God delegated some of His authority to the human race, He expected us to take responsibility for the environment and the other creatures that share our planet.

We must not be careless and wasteful as we fulfil this charge. God was careful how He made this earth.

We must not be careless about how we take care of it.

At creation, man was endowed and blessed with certain privileges as firm promises from his Creator, namely: the power to be fruitful, multiply, subdues the earth and has dominion.

Psalm 23:10-13 shows that even after the fall of man through the sin of Adam and Eve, God continued to bless man with unfailing provision, unfailing protection, unfailing security, unfailing good health, and never failing victory over the powers of the enemy.

If we do not want to live below our privileges, we must make God’s Word our guide.

Psalm 119:105 says: “Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path.”

Jesus paid the price for the final victory by washing away our sins with His blood and by giving unto us power and authority.

“Look, I have given you the authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy; nothing will ever harm you” (Luke 10:19).

We must remain focused. As a divine project, anybody who stays in touch with God’s word and guidance will remain victorious.
