Your excuses are not enough. As a leader, God knows your inability. He knows your incapability, and your weaknesses, yet He chose you. God was unimpressed, when Moses presented his stammering as a hindrance. The Lord, Who made the mouth replied, “I will send Aaron as your mouth piece.”

Exodus 4:10-12 – And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. And the Lord said unto him, who made man’s mouth? Or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? Have not I the LORD? Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.

The word of God said we are complete in Him. The Lord knows your present level, your present capacity and your secret fears. But if you allow Him to make you, He will take you to the next level. He will make up for every inadequacy; He will send support to your life as a leader.

1 Corinthians 1:27-28 – Beloved, brace up to your assignment and stop giving excuses and rather rely on God’s help and grace. Within you are lots of undiscovered potentials, talents, abilities and grace. These are like the rod that was in Moses’ hand that the Lord will use to manifest you to your generation. These are the unknown and unnoticed strengths in your life. Though David was a shepherd boy, he was also endowed with unknown grace for leadership. Gideon was also full of fears and excuses, but the angel asked him to go in his might and that God has given him victory. God loves you the way you are, all you need to do is to believe in your call as a leader, work and develop by the help and leading of the Spirit in your weak areas. God will send you destiny helpers, if you will depend on Him and allow Him to complete that which He has started in your life. Do not give up on your assignment, do not disappoint God. God has support for you.

Heb 5:4 – And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.

Leaders must accept their assignment as a divine mandate. They are co-labourers with God. Once a person is given a position as a leader or one of the leaders of a group, this becomes his entry point in leadership; this is Leadership by Position. The first thing is to accept the appointment as a divine mandate. Accept the assignment and go through the job description thoroughly, prepare and get yourself ready for further training, as they arise formally and informally. Convenience must not be the issue. Leaders are important in the agenda of God and the King’s business is urgent. You must understand that as a leader, you are special to God and to His work. Availability rather than passivity to the call and appointment into leadership must remain the focus. He is reengineering you in order to take your assignment to the next level. Think about what will happen to a country’s economy and polity, when its leadership fails to accept their positions of authority by their non-responsiveness to their offices. What a disrespect that would be to the ones who elected, nominated or appointed them into these privileged responsibilities. These are attitudes oftentimes associated with leadership.

Besides the main head taking up his responsibility, few others rarely accept their responsibilities in that they are passive and self-seeking. As long as you do not take up your own assignment with diligence, it will affect the effectiveness of the whole body and you will give an account.
