The Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) in Kebbi State has completed four out of nine road projects, which contracts were awarded in 2017.

Making the disclosure recently, the state’s field officer of the agency, Malam Rilwanu Usman, said the agency has been working assiduously towards maintaining federal roads across the state.

He explained that the agency has completed four projects, and also rehabilitated the internal road network of Federal University, Birnin Kebbi, which was awarded to Zanaqhs Global Link Limited, as well as carried out repair works at Shanga Junction to Saminaka Road.

Usman, who said that the agency has also repaired Argungu to Bui, and rehabilitated Ribah-Diri-Rijau Road, informed that a lot of maintenance works have been carried out across the three senatorial districts.

While assuring that ongoing projects, including the remaining five major ones would soon be completed, he explained that the Kangiwa-Kamba Road project has reached 85 per cent completion, while the rehabilitation of Bagudu to Kalgo Road is about 35 per cent completed.

Usman commended the Federal Government for rehabilitating the 92 kilometres Illo-Lolo Road that link the state with neighbouring Niger Republic. The project he said has also reached 30 per cent completion.

He commended the state government for supporting and cooperating with the agency towards achieving its set goals.

In their responses, Alhaji Issa Sufiyani Augie, and Mallam Usman Danko, who spoke on behalf of village heads in Augies, Arugungu and Zuru local councils, commended the Federal Government, through FERMA for maintaining roads in their areas, pointing out that the road linking Arugungu to Kangiwa, and Kangiwa to Kamba remains an important economic road because it links the state with Niger and Benin republics.

He added that in the Zuru area, roads rehabilitated and repaired by FERMA were also contributing to boosting the economy of the state.
