Kongi University Holds 5th Convocation, Graduates 10 First Class Students

KOGI-State-UniversityKOGI State University (KSU), Anyigba, at its fifth convocation ceremony yesterday graduated 10 students with First Class honours from different faculties.

About 305 students also graduated with various Mas‎ters degrees and MBA, while 51 graduated with Ph.D degrees. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Hassan Salihu Isah, disclosed this at the ceremony.

Isah explained that the fifth convocation ceremony, which combined three sessions of 2011/3012, 2012/2013 and 2013/2014, produced the 10 First Class degrees.

The breakdown of the students with first class degrees according to him was David Olubunmi (Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies), Okutachi Ojochegbe Sunday and Abah Onyaole Charity both from (Department of Biochemistry), Achimugu Peter Urane (Department of Mathematics), Ubituogwale Edoka Michael (Department of Geology) and Zhiya Wyman Victor (Department of Physics).

Others are Alfa Ojonugwa Nicholas (Department of Food Science and Technology), Abdumaik Sunday Etudaiye (Department of Animal Production), Idachaba Innocent Odekina (Department of Banking and Finance) and Enesi Latifat Oyiza (Mathematical Sciences).

The Vice Chancellor disclosed that with the expansion of the school, management had to improve its staff strength in quality and quantity to meet with the need for quality teaching, research and service delivery.

The Chancellor of the university, Dr. Nnaemeka Alfred, the Obi of Onitsha‎, enjoined the graduating students to be good ambassadors of the school by proving themselves creditably and reflecting the good training‎ they have received.

He called on the private sector to partner with tertiary institutions across the country to address the challenges of funding.
Achimugu Peter from the Department of Mathematics emerged best graduating student with 4.74 CGPA and received a prize for it.
