The star midweek tie between Team Leadway Assurance and Team Offikwu of Kaduna lived up to its billing with the Kaduna based team edging their opponents 4-3.

Scores were tied 2-2 on the opening Tuesday with Christian Paul taking advantage of a rain interruption to narrowly beat Babalola Abdulmumin of Leadway Assurance 0-6, 6-4, 10-8 and Sylvester Emmanuel stretched the Offikwu lead by defeating Clifford Enosoregbe 6-4, 6-4.

Team Leadway Assurance fought back to level scores by taking the Ladies singles where Sarah Adgoke bested Christie Agugbom 6-1, 6-2 and the men’s doubles which was won by the combination of Albert Bicom and Abdulmumin against Emmanuel and Henry Atseye 6-4, 6-3.

The reverse singles were split with Enosoregbe putting Team Leadway Assurance ahead with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Paul and Emmanuel beating Abdulmumin 7-6, 6-0.

With the tie hinged on the mixed doubles, both teams put their best foot forward. However, it was the Offikwu team pair of Emmanuel and Agugbom, which upended Abdulmumin and Adegoke 7-6, 3-6, 10-1.

In other venues, Team Goshen of Ilorin beat Team Kalotari of Port Harcourt 4-3, Team Anambra defeated Team CBN Futures in Onitsha 6-1, Team SBL of Jos beat Team Orofina of Warri 7-0, Team Tech Vibe of Jos also beat Team Yetade of Ado Ekiti 7-0, while Team Luik came from two matches down to beat Team Next Gen 5-2.
