Ahli SC of Saudi Arabia has parted ways with former Super Eagles central defender Godfrey Oboabana, ScoreNigeria.com.ng can report.Ahli SC’s reasons to dump the former Sunshine Stars’ defender remained sketchy, but official information on the club’s official Twitter handle revealed that he was released since February 2.

His release could also have suggested why Ahli SC bought Australian defender Mark Milligan in the winter transfer window to replace the Akure-born ace, who only managed nine league appearances since his July switch from relegated Turkish side Caykur Rizespor on a free transfer.

Oboabana, ScoreNigeria.com.ng gathered had been in Nigeria for three weeks now to further confirm his departure from multiple Saudi Pro League champions.

Meanwhile, Kelechi Iheanacho will be hoping to continue his impressive goalscoring run in the Emirates FA Cup when Chelsea visit the King Power Stadium tomorrow for a quarterfinal fixture.

The Taye Academy product has tallied nine goals in ten appearances in the FA Cup, making him Nigeria’s most prolific player in the prestigious competition after only three years as a professional.

Iheanacho has never scored against Chelsea in the FA Cup, League Cup and Premier League and his only strike against the Blues across all levels was three years ago when he was wearing the jersey of City’s U-18 team in the final of the FA Youth Cup on April 27, 2015.

The Nigeria international has played against Chelsea’s first-team four times since his arrival in England, and went the distance in Manchester City’s 5-1 loss to the London team in the FA Cup in February 2016.He has found the net against Norwich City, Aston Villa (3), Huddersfield Town, Fleetwood Town (2) and Peterborough 92) in the FA Cup.
