Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr has declared that his big ambition is to win next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroun, reports footballlive.ng.

Although his team still has the qualifiers to prosecute, starting with their September 7 battle away to Seychelles, Rohr is looking ahead to the main event itself and stressed that his target is to pick the trophy.

Three-time champions, Nigeria, which missed the 2015 and 2017 editions, trail leaders, Libya and South Africa by three points in Group E of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Rohr affirmed that he has already told his players that they could win Cameroon 2019 with the right mentality, determination and adherence to tactics, all of which, he says, he would impact on them in his unfolding build-up programme.

He added: “The last time Nigeria won the African Cup Nations in 2013, I was the coach of Niger Republic.”

“The team hasn’t qualified for two successive Nations Cups. We want to ensure that this team qualifies for Cameroon 2019.

“If that happens we will try to qualify from our group at the competition proper and try to take it step by step to the final.
