Real Madrid’s Silva joins Marseille on loan
Brazilian midfielder Lucas Silva has joined Marseille on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid both sides confirmed on Thursday.
The 22-year-old only joined Madrid in January from Cruzeiro in a 14 million euro ($16 million, £10.3 million) deal.
However, he made just four starts for the Spanish giants and was left without even a squad number for the new campaign after the signing of Mateo Kovacic from Inter Milan last week.
Marseille have had a turbulent start to the season as they lost their opening two Ligue 1 matches and saw coach Marcelo Bielsa resign.
However, former Real Madrid favourite Michel got off to a fine start in his first match in charge on Sunday with a 6-0 hammering of Troyes.
