The buzz in town is that all the country’s big boys and ladies in Lagos will be at the Oriental Hotel today to talk business, as well as hear what awaits them at the luxuriant Lakowe Golf Course tomorrow.

The telecommunications outfit, MTN, has invited high net individuals to the golf course for a one-day tournament put together just for their enjoyment. Of course, some of the participants will be there to earn bragging rights in the sport.

According to the programme made available to The Guardian, the event would be kicked off this evening at the Oriental Hotel with a dinner invited guests and members of the golfing public.

Then tomorrow, the golfers will have the opportunity to strut their stuff at the Lakowe Golf Course, Lekki, from 7.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. MTN says it is sponsoring the tounament to create a platform for customer engagement and interactivity because golf is a sport that provides opportunities for high profile networking.

“Selected MTN High Value customers, who are amateur golfers would be specifically invited to participate in the tournament designed for high-net worth business men and CEOs.

“MTN sponsorship gesture is to further strengthen brand affinity amongst this very important class of people because participation affords them the opportunity to network as well as create more international business opportunities and links,” according to the programme.

The venue, Lakowe Golf Course, is an 18-hole championship golf course situated along the Lekki–Epe axis, which sets new international standards for golf courses in West Africa. It has a par rating of 72, consisting of two returning loops of nine holes each with four par 5s, four par 3s and ten par 4s.
