Former Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Victor Ochei, has expressed his determination to see Nigeria’s wheelchair basketball team at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Ochei, whose project, the Victor Ochei International Wheelchair Basketball Championship is in its fourth edition, believes that with a concerted effort, the country would be among the teams competing for medals at the Olympics next year.

Speaking ahead of this year’s Victor Ochei Championship, President, Wheelchair Basketball Federation of Nigeria (WBFN), Bukola Olopade, revealed that the former speaker, who has been a major supporter of the federation, has pledged to continue to empower special sports athletes.

The former speaker, according to Olopade, urged the federation to put all machinery in place to ensure that the Nigeria qualified for the Rio 2016 Olympics in Brazil.

Olapade assured that the athletes would not disappoint Nigerians at the qualifiers slated for Algeria later in the year, just as he revealed that a lawmaker, Senator Olamilekan Adeola of Alimosho of Lagos State, has donated N1 million to the federation.
