The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has refuted claims that the Super Eagles will face Togo in an international friendly in Paris on June 1.

The NFF Director of Media and Communications, Ademola Olajire, explained to supersport.com that no game involving the Hawks of Togo has been included in the schedule of the Super Eagles for June 1.

“There is no such game for the Super Eagles as I speak with you,” Olajire said.

News of the planned international friend was first announced on an unverified account of the Togo Football Federation (FTF) on microblogging social networking service, Twitter, on Thursday.

It announced that the Togo national team will face Nigeria in a friendly on June 1.

The former African champions are billed to hold a camping exercises for 25 players in the French region of Corsica and Paris ahead of their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa next month.

Meanwhile, members of the Nigerian Football Supporters Club as said to be jostling for visa to enable them travel to France to cheer the Eagles in the friendly against Corsica.

There are two faces of the Supporters Club, with Vincent Okumagba leading the group in Abuja, while Rev. Samuel Ikpea leads the Lagos group.

It was learnt yesterday that the two groups had submitted a long list of people to the French Embassy seeking visa for their members to travel for the friendly games.

However, a source told The Guardian yesterday that embassy officials are not giving the Supporters Club members the attention they need.

“The group in Abuja is pushing very hard to get visa to all its members, but those in Lagos are not relenting. But they are finding it difficult to convince the embassy that all the people are true members of the Supporters Club. I doubt if they will get the prompt attention they will need from the embassy,” the source stated.
