Nigeria’s highest ranked Badminton player, Krobapor Clement, Eneojo Abah who is ranked 461 in the world, Kingsley Nelson, Sola Abiodun are among 16 players contending for the top spot in the men and women category at the ongoing 1st Katsina Golden Star National Badminton Championship.

The championship, which has assisted in reviving the game will end today in Katsina as all seeded players, according to the organizers, have justified their prowess in the four-day championship.

Speaking on the tournament, Krobapo Clement, highest ranked Nigeria player in Badminton stated that he would do everything possible to win the event.

“I just returned from Egypt and traveling down from Lagos to Kano by air before connecting Katsina by road was not easy for me, but I must commend my opponent who also gave a good account of himself in my first game. It will be nice to win the championship, but I know it won’t be easy base on the stars around.” he said.

Also, Eneojo Abah thanked badminton players and fans for gracing the tournament. “We are happy to have the National Championship again. Winning a game after a long while makes a player feel relaxed but truth is that the higher you go the tougher it becomes.”

Meanwhile, three Nigeria players, Kribapor Clement, Habeeb Temitope and Anuoluwapo  Juwon Opeyori  made the top list of players in the Africa latest ranking released by the World body.
