Omagbemi Praises Aiteo Group Over N2.5 Billion Deal

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), may have began what it termed ‘computerization’ of coaches who will benefit from the N2.5 billion sponsorship deal it just signed with Nigeria’s foremost integrated energy solutions company, Aiteo Group.

The partnership will start on May 1, 2017 and will last five years with an initial option of a one-year extension. The financial obligation to Aiteo Group for the partnership is being valued at ₦500 million annually.

Speaking with The Guardian yesterday, the Chairman Technical and Development Committee of the NFF, Chris Green, said that the process leading to payment of outstanding salaries to all national team coaches had began.

“At the moment, the NFF has commenced computerization of everything concerning payment of the coaches salaries. There is a process to follow, and we have to do so. First, we have to channel everything through our financial consultant, Financial Derivatives, and thereafter, the NFF Technical and Development Committee will have to meet to decide on who gets what, and other issues,” Green said.

According to Green, the wait by the coaches for payment of their salaries may still take ‘some days or weeks.’ Meanwhile, Super Falcons coach, Florence Omagbemi has praised the NFF and the management of Aiteo Group for the sponsorship deal they entered in Lagos on Wednesday.

Speaking with The Guardian from her base in the United States of America, Omagbemi, who is the second Nigerian outside the late Stephen Keshi to win the AFCON title as a player and a coach stated that the deal would go a long way in helping the coaches to be focused in discharge of their duties.

“I saw it on facebook shortly after the signing ceremony and I was really thrilled because such a deal will make the coaches to discharge their duties effectively. I must commend the NFF for this deal,” Omagbemi, who led the Super Falcons to win the 10th African Women’s Nations Cup in Cameroun last December stated.
