New Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, has said that the team under him would not be restricted to a particular playing pattern. He, however, assures that the Super Eagles would be primed to win games as required by the mandate he got from his employers, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Oliseh on Wednesday signed a three-year performance based contract, which stipulates that he must qualify the the home-based Eagles for the 2016 CHAN, take Nigeria to the 2017 African Nations Cup and get to at least the semifinals stage in the competition, as well as qualifying and playing up to the quarterfinals of the Russia 2018 World Cup in Russia.

He noted that certain factors could determine Nigeria’s pattern of play, adding that the most important thing was to play well and win matches.

On the type of players he would employ in his team, the former Super Eagles’ captain said henceforth speed and form would determine his choice of materials.

“Our pattern of play will be based on the players we have. As I said, you cannot expect us to have a playing pattern that is individual player related when we don’t have such players.

“For that reason, we can only have a team kind of pattern where all the 11 players on the pitch will not only be told what we expect from them, but will also be chosen for any particular position based on the qualities they possess. For example, you cannot play in our attacking line up if speed is not one of your strongest points. That is certainly what we are hoping to bring up there.”
