This weekend’s NCC Tennis League tie between Team Leadway Assurance and Team Next Gen of Abuja looks to be a classic matchup between experience and youth.

The tie scheduled to hold at the National Stadium Tennis Centre Surulere, Lagos will have Team Leadway Assurance, which has two ex-champions, Babalola Abdulmumin and Clifford Enosoregbe, as well as current women’s champion, Sarah Adegoke, taking on a youthful Next Gen team.

The Abuja-based team has some of the most promising youngsters on the Nigerian circuit led by Anthony Obekpa, John Dickson and Joel Sylvanus for the men and Bunmi Aare and Joy Sunday for the women.

Coach Tivlumun Tyav, who arrived a day earlier than scheduled, said, “the NCC Tennis League is a great opportunity for these young ones to showcase their talent and playing against these veterans will reveal to them that they have nothing to fear. We can surprise them.”

Abdulmumin, who is the playing captain of the Leadway Assurance team, said: “As a person and as a team we do not take any opponent for granted. But we shall see how it goes. We are ready.”
