LaLiga continues to boost its network through its Ambassador dream team.

Next week, the Ambassadors for the 2018/19 season will be announced, and will include five new ambassadors and a renewal of 17, and one is African.

In the world of sport today, merely thriving in one’s own country or even on their continent is not enough for the most successful of sporting leagues.

Nowadays, they are increasingly ravenous beyond their own borders, in pursuit of becoming a much more lucrative brand.

The global appeal of LaLiga as a brand has ensured great worldwide coverage and awareness for Spanish football.

It has been keen to reach out to its global network of broadcast partners to gain as much knowledge as possible in order to boost its network worldwide.

In the 2015-16 season, the LaLiga Ambassadors project ‘was born’, and is overseen by LaLiga global ambassador, as well as the organisation’s Mena office manager, and director of international projects, Fernando Sanz, and is aimed at bringing together some of the biggest names to have plied their trade in the Spanish top flight, for one common goal – to make LaLiga an even more global brand.

The Ambassadors include former footballers who have gone through LaLiga’s championship and who do the job of helping to conquer international markets by transmitting LaLiga’s values all over the world.

Another key goal of the project was to enable the Ambassadors be closer to their fans, as well as taking charge of the institutional relations, relations with other leagues, football federations and other stakeholders.

One of such exceptional footballer is Steve McManaman. In 1999, Steve checked in at Real Madrid and chose LaLiga to showcase his mesmerising midfield talents.

He won his first Champions League crown that season which made him the first Englishman to lift a European trophy with a foreign club.

Throughout his time at Real Madrid, he was a key cog in the Los Blancos squad and a highly popular figure amongst the Madrid faithful.

Shortly after the commencement of the Ambassadors programme, the ‘LaLiga Global Network’ was established, giving young professionals the chance to represent Spanish football’s most famous property around the world.

It was a project created to expand LaLiga’s image on the international stage through a younger generation of delegates.
