SUPER Eagles’ coach, Lars Lagerback, will unveil Nigeria’s 30-man provisional squad to the South Africa 2010 World Cup today, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced.

Lagerback was expected to return to Abuja yesterday to meet with chieftains of the NFF Technical Committee before the announcement this evening. The 30 players to be named in this evening’s press conference at the NFF Secretariat will be treated to a send forth being planned by the NFF.

And at the party, President Goodluck Jonathan is expected to charge the team to do better than its predecessors at the World Cup finals. The send forth will take place at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja next Thursday.

After unveiling the provisional squad, the team will travel to London for a pre-World Cup training camp at the Five Lakes and Golf Country Club on Colchester Road, Tolleshunt in Essex from next Friday.

It will play international friendlies against Saudi Arabia in Austria (May 25) and Colombia in London (May 30), the NFF said. However, it is the group that makes the final cut of 23 that will prosecute the last friendly match against North Korea in South Africa on June 4, eight days to Nigeria’ first match against Argentina at Johannesburg’s Ellis Park.

World football governing body, FIFA, has mandated all the teams to the World Cup to provide a list of up to 30 players before midnight tomorrow, as it would publish the comprehensive list on its official website, FIFA.com, this Thursday.

The body has also warned clubs that the release of players on this list is mandatory as from next Monday, adding that the deadline for the 32 teams to provide a final list of 23 players is June 1, 2010.

It added that the final list is limited to players on the released list provided tomorrow, though it allows teams to substitute seriously injured players from the pool up till a day before their first match.
