Jonathan’s sports record enough to give him second term, says Fashanu

UNITED Nations Sports Ambassador, John Fashanu, has joined in the call by sports men for a second term in office for President Goodluck Jonathan.

  Fashanu, who spoke at a press briefing Wednesday in Abuja, urged all lovers of sports in the country to vote and campaign for President Jonathan during the February 14 presidential election, stressing that his records of achievement in the sports sector is big enough to earn him a second term in office.

 The former board member of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) noted that Jonathan has laid the foundation for Nigeria to get back to its enviable position in the world through the presidential retreat on sports that came immediately after the country’s poor outing at the 2012 Olympics Games in London.

  He noted that for sports to continue to receive the committed attention it is currently getting, there was need for all sports men and administrators to do their best for the president to return to power.

  “I have been so proud and impressed with Mr. Presidents achievements in sports. It is on record that Nigeria has won the African Nations Cup, U17 World Cup under President Jonathan. We have also done well in weightlifting, All African Games as well as the last World Cup all under Jonathan’s administration.

  “All these achievements in sports happened because the president has created a conducive atmosphere where Nigerian sports men and women strive to do better. This is because they know the president appreciates them,” Fashanu said.
