Nigeria’s national football team kit manufacturer, Nike has revealed that the Super Eagles’ wears to the Russia 2018 World Cup would be available in stores from Sunday.

The Super Eagles’ jerseys were sold out when it was first put out to football fans last year and since then many admirers of the wears, adjudged the best at the World Cup, have not been able to buy the authentic kits.

According to www.football.london, The jersey was created for the fashion and sportswear manufacturer for a special ‘Naija’ collection – a label that has come to be associated with a new, young and optimistic Nigeria.

In a press release to announce the range, Nike explained:

“The word Naija has many uses. As a descriptor, it defines a certain future-focused optimism — one that has catalyzed a new generation of Nigerians to celebrate the nation’s vibrant culture. Use of the word requires attitude, even panache.

“It isn’t simply a stand-in for Nigeria; instead, Naija reflects a youthful exuberance, pride and fresh perspective on patriotism. To some, Naija translates directly to ‘the new Nigeria.’

“With boundless potential and an undoubtedly infectious palpable charisma, the squad begs fandom from anyone — interest in football notwithstanding.”

The kit sold out instantly on release and Nike are in the process of restocking the shirt, which will be made available to order from their online store on Sunday November 18.

Ahead of the World Cup tournament in the summer, the manufacturer received more than three million pre-orders with the jersey later popping up elsewhere online to be sold at auction for sums far in excess of the price at retail.
Nike’s work has even been nominated in the Beazley Designs of the Year awards and is already regarded as a modern classic by aficionados.
