As part of its commitment toward growing the game of golf among the youths, Falcon Golf Development Company Limited has offered two slots to the top-four finishers at the just concluded National Junior Competition in Ilorin.

The National final of International Pairs Golf Championship holds this weekend at the golf section of Ikoyi Club. The Chief Executive Officer of the event organizing outfit, Remi Olukoya said yesterday that the junior golfers have a chance of winning an all-expense-paid trip to Portugal, where the world final of this year’s International Pairs has been scheduled to hold if they played well.

Olukoya explained that the idea of allowing junior golfers take part in the competition is in furtherance of FGDC desire to grow the game at the grassroots level.

While calling on Lagos State to help in the growth of the game by providing land for the proposed first of its kind Lagos State Golf Academy, Olukoya added that golf has the potential of boosting tourism in the country and generating foreign exchange.

“What we are trying to do is give these children the opportunity of a lifetime. If they play well in the competition, we will take them on the trip to Portugal. But the real goal is the land we have been asking from Lagos State government over the years to enable us set up the golf academy”, he said.

Meanwhile, over 100 teams are expected to file out for a chance to compete with the best at the World Final of International Pairs in November. The competition is sponsored by Dangote Flour Mills, 9mobile, Megamound Investment Limited, Seagle Properties, Sonar Tusk among others.
