Ezenwa’s confidence at CHAN delights Shorunmu

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer, Ike Shorunmu, has praised CHAN Eagles’ goalie, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, for his confidence at the on-going Africa Nations Championship in Morocco.

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer, Ike Shorunmu, has praised CHAN Eagles’ goalie, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, for his confidence at the on-going Africa Nations Championship in Morocco. 

Shorunmu who particularly commended Ezenwa for his superb saves that assisted the CHAN Eagles emerged victorious against Angola in Sunday’s quarterfinal game, noted that the performance of the FC IfeayinUbah keeper was a clear point that he is working hard to take his career to the higher level. 

He also urged the CHAN Eagles to remain steadfast and resilient in the competition, as winning the semifinal game against Sudan would pave way for the players to emerge champions of the tournament. 

The ex-Super Eagles goalkeeper, however, charged the technical crew to instill more tactics on the team’s strikers, saying that the CHAN Eagles might not be able to triumph against a tactically disciplined team if they keep missing scoring opportunities. 

Shorunmu called on football-loving Nigerians to support and encourage the players in tomorrow semi final encounter, adding that the crtitisims that have been trailing the players since the commencement of the tourney was not needed at this point in time.  He said that the players need encouragement to spur them to win their remaining games. 

On the CHAN Eagles Semifinal game against Sudan,  Shorunmu said: “Eagles should work more on their strike force because they might not be lucky if they confront a team that is on high scoring side. I am happy with the improvement and commitment to win at all cost the players have been displaying. Some Nigerians who have been castigating the team should stop at this point. All that the players need is total support. They should focus of making use of any little chance that comes their way in the semi final match.”
