Edo government pledges Federation Cup support for Insurance, Dynamite
The Edo State government has pledged to give maximum support to the two teams representing the state in the Federation Cup, which draws is expected to hold this month.
Insurance of Benin and Dynamite FC are the state’s representatives in the competition by virtue of their qualification for the final of the state’s competition, which Insurance won 5-0.
Speaking shortly after the final, Edo State’s Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu said, “I want to use this opportunity to congratulate both teams for a thrilling final, especially Insurance for showing why they are a strong contender for promotion to the premier league. I want to assure both teams of government’s support in the national play offs.
“We shall continue to monitor and support you to ensure you bring glory to the State.”
Also speaking in the same vein is the representative of the sponsor, Dr. Mike Egboh, who stood in for the President of FROT GROUP, Frank Momoh. He said: “ I am happy with the standard of play by both teams, they have shown that Edo State still boasts quality plans. I want to wish them all the best in the national play off. I am confident they will make the state proud.”
Dr. Egboh also congratulated the Edo FA board for organising a befitting tournament, adding, “We are always proud of the FA led by Frank Ilaboya. Year in year out, they have proven their administrative acumen and we are very proud of them.”
FROT Group, according to him, “will continue to back the Edo FA to bring back the vibes to Edo State Football.”
The winner of the Federation Cup smiled home with a cash prize of N500,000, while the runner-up and third placed teams got N300,000 and N200,000 respectively.
Ine Stars won the third place without kicking a ball following the disqualification and suspended of BJ Foundation FC due to the unruly behaviour in their second semifinal match against Dynamite Football Club.
