Nigeria’s U-17 national team, the Golden Eaglets, has intensified preparations for the forthcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup scheduled for Chile next month, but the Emmanuel Amuneke tutored team says it is worried by the delay by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to send it on a proposed training tour of Argentina.

The Eaglets were expected to acclimatise in Argentina before moving to Chile for the championship next month.

According to the Eaglets’ Media Officer, Morakinyo Abodurin, the Eaglets were not granted Sallah break as the players and officials are still perfecting strategies for the Cadet World Cup.

Abodunrin disclosed that 35 players are still in camp fighting to earn their spots in the final squad to Chile, adding, “We are still waiting for the NFF to give us the date to depart for Argentina.

“Before the end of this week, I believe the NFF will reach out to the Eaglets on the trip to Argentina because it is necessary in the build up to the championship.”
