The D-day is here. Who wins this battle of the ‘Red Sea’ between the Super Eagles and the Pharaohs of Egypt?

The Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna is the battleground this evening (5.00 pm) and there is anxiety everywhere.

The players have vowed to do everything within their limit to strike the Egyptians ‘dead’ today. From midfielder, Mikel Obi, who is the new captain of the team, to his deputy, Ahmed Musa, Moses Simon, Ambrose Efe, the promise is the same.

The Eagles’ last training session yesterday was meant to be a closed section. But a mild drama occurred when the fans in their thousands ‘forced’ officials of the NFF to throw the gates open.

The team had arrived the stadium at about 3.30pm and were midway into their ‘closed door’ training when the fans started their agitation for the gates to be thrown open.

“Open the gate, open the gate’ was the shout outside. The security men stood their ground, insisting they would not open the gates. The situation became tensed.

At this point, the NFF Technical Director, Shaibu Amodu, Edo FA Chairman, Frank Ilaboya, father to Arsenal star, Alex Iwobi, former international, Emma Okocha and some other top personalities were ‘stranded’ in the midst of the fans.

When the President of the NFF, Amaju Pinnick and the League Management Company (LMC) Chairman, Shehu Dikko, breezed into the arena, the fans’ agitation went a notch higher.
