Dolphins determined to secure more good results says Eguma

EgumaThe Dolphins FC of Port Harcourt Coach, Stanley Eguma, said on Thursday that his team is determined to secure more good results to escape relegation.

Eguma told newsmen in Port Harcourt after his team defeated Sunshine Stars of Akure, 1-0, in a midweek game at the Liberation Stadium, Port Harcourt.

He said the victory was a motivation for his players as he had told them that hard work could fetch them favourable results.

“It is not yet over, we will keep working hard. Wednesday’s victory will motivate the boys. I told them that if you keep working hard, you can win against any team anytime, anywhere”.

Eguma said the team would re-strategise to take on Rangers International of Enugu that had also been in a good form.

Jonathan Zikiye, Dolphins’ left back player scored the only goal in the 55th minute off a free kick. The player had attributed the victory to team work.

“It is a team game, it is not a matter of individual effort. I am just a tool used on Wednesday by my colleagues to achieve victory. We needed the victory,’’ he said.

Zikiye said the free kick that he converted was a result of hard work and training. Whatever you are doing, you have to be focused, disciplined and pray to God to reward all the efforts”.

Zikiye said they were hopeful to get out of the relegation zone and promised a good fight against Rangers International of Enugu.

Sunshine Stars coach, Kennedy Boboye, said in spite of the loss, the team was still hopeful of lifting the Premier League title.

“We came here to either win or secure a draw; that was our expectation but it didn’t turn the way that we had planned, but we still give God the glory.

“We lost our chances, we did not take our chances, if we had taken our chances, we could have been two or three goals ahead of Dolphins,” he said.

Boboye described the game as a good one and that Dolphins fought hard and won.
