Contestants get N10.6m, as Nairabet unveils sports challenge
Contestants from across the country yesterday in Lagos went home with over N10.6 million, which they won in a sports quiz programme entitled ‘the Nairabet Sports Challenge (NSC).’
Sports betting company, NAIRABET.Com, yesterday unveiled the programme to top journalists in Lagos, where it also revealed details of a forthcoming television game show titled, the ‘Nairabet Sports Challenge.’
The event, which also doubled as a prize presentation ceremony for all the winners from the various episodes of the game show, shed light on the workings of the contest, including how interested Nigerians can be part of it.
According to the promoters of the programme, “each episode of the ‘NairaBet Sports Challenge’ features two contestants, who compete to demonstrate superior knowledge across five major sports – football, basketball, tennis, athletics and boxing – with the opportunity to win up to one million naira in cash! “The programme also features some of the company’s brand ambassadors, including the talented musical duo known as ‘Skuki’ and top sports personality, George Essien, as ‘Technical Advisers’ to the contestants.”
The founder of NairaBet.com, Akin Alabi, revealed that the company embarked on this venture primarily to reward its teeming customers, who have largely contributed to the betting outfit’s success, adding his hope that another positive fall-out of the game show will be its ability to inform, entertain and educate viewers about past and present historic events and illustrious personalities that abound in the world of sports. Cheques of various sums totaling N10, 685,000 were handed out to the NSC winners, who praised the company for organising the ‘very exciting and educative’ game show. Alabi revealed that broadcast of the ‘NairaBet Sports Challenge’ on television stations will begin in January next year.
