Canaan House emerges top at MD Schools inter-house meet

Canaan House has emerged the winner of the 12th biennial inter-house sports of MD Nursery and Primary School held at the weekend at the Agege Stadium.

The competition which also featured Goshen (Green) Gilgal (Yellow) and Bethel (Red) houses saw Canaan House victorious with 13 gold, eight silver and seven bronze medals.

The inter-house sports, which featured the three branches of the school at Omole, Agidingbi and New Oko-Oba, saw Goshen House clinch the second position with nine gold, nine silver and eight bronze medals.

Gilgal House won eight gold, eight silver and 12 bronze medals to come in third, while Bethel House was fourth with six gold, eight silver and 12 bronze medals.

Speaking during the event, the Chief Executive Officer of the School, Mrs. Omolara Adedugbe, acknowledged the importance of sports in the physical and psychological development of children.

According to her, inter house sports was an extra curricular activity targeted at helping the pupils and students of the school recreate and rediscover their talents.

She admonished government at all levels to support owners of private schools in providing the enabling environment for students of various school to excel both in their academics and sports.

Speaking to The Guardian, Miss Kamsi Ugwu, one of the pupils and a member of the Bethel House that took the fourth position, expressed optimism in the performance of her house at the next inter house sport competition.
