The Chairman of Blaugrana Sports International Group, Mr. Leslie Oghomienor, has promised to give assistance to the Future Assured Programme of the Wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, as he described it as an enviable and selfless one through its activities, progress and impacts so far.

Oghomienor, who spoke at the end of the Gala Night of Legends For Children held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, said the initiative of Her Excellency was in consonance with Blaugrana Sports’ vision for sports.

“This platform we believe is a well defined and articulated opportunity for us to help. We will therefore take it as a responsibility with a sustained rigour to raise awareness and galvanise a strong and sustainable support for the sports sector and the entire corporate Nigeria.

“We appeal to stakeholders to bolster the provision of quality basic education in Nigeria which I believe will serve as a catalyst to the much anticipated change and revolutionised the sports spheres,” he said.

Speaking further, he said their interest in the girl-child participation in sports, especially football, is their little way of supporting the efforts of those who believe that a child should be given quality education to enable him or her lead a fulfilling life.

He said Blaugrana Sports is working on the establishment of a project known as Legends for Children, while adding that this will be a platform for periodic clash of football legends drawn from all over the world, who will be taking part in exhibition matches to raise funds.

Oghomienor said the funds would be channelled through novel charity organisations like the Future Assured Programme, National Centre for Women Development and UNICEF and for the Internally Displaced Persons.

Also speaking, the Technical Director of Blaugrana Sports, Bernat Villa, said the project would be of great influence to gifted girls and boys, who are passionate about football and want to model after renowned legends as Jay Jay Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo and Peter Rufai.
