Cech Leads Arsenal Against West Ham

Diego Costa remains a fitness doubt for Chelsea in today’s Premiership game against Swansea after sitting out the Community Shield last weekend.

Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao both played a half each in that match and are vying to start if Costa is not available.

Jordi Amat is Swansea City’s only doubt with a foot problem.

Summer signing Andre Ayew is likely to start but fellow newcomers Kristoffer Nordfeldt, Franck Tabanou and Eder are expected to be among the substitutes.

However, Chelsea put nine goals past the Swans last season and their only league win at Stamford Bridge came in 1925 when they were still called Swansea Town.

Chelsea’s loss in the Community Shield was followed by defeat to Fiorentina but I’m not sure Jose’s all that bovvered either – it’s Swansea that counts.

Chelsea are unbeaten in their last 10 league meetings with Swansea, winning eight.

Swansea have lost all four Premier League trips to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have the Premier League’s best opening day record, winning 15 of their 23 matches. They have not suffered defeat since losing to Coventry City in 1998-99.

Jose Mourinho has a 100% winning record on the opening day of a Premier League season.

Meanwhile, Petr Cech is set to make his Premier League debut for Arsenal but Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky and Danny Welbeck are ruled out with injuries.
