Avram Grant must go, Kuffour insists
It’s time for Avram Grant to be kicked out of the Ghana national team job, says Samuel Osei Kuffour.
The SuperSport pundit has called for the axing of the Israeli who was unable to secure a final berth for the Black Stars following a 2-0 loss to Cameroon in Thursday’s semifinal.
Both sides failed to score in the first half, but Cameroon seized their chances in the second.
The ex-Bayern defender was left incensed with the manner of the defeat as Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui and Christian Bassogog buried his home nation.
“I’m p****d. [Avram] Grant must go!” he charged, going on: “He spends all his time outside the country and does not develop any local talent. Ghana football is in crises and I’m worried about the youth!”
Grant and the Ghana FA now have to settle on whether to renew his two-year deal or not.
Meanwhile, Grant is unable to say what his future with the team will be.
Grant, whose contract expires this month, immediately faced reporters who wanted to know if he was interested in keeping the job.
“My future with Ghana is not important to me. What is important is our inability to make it to the finals after all the hard work.”
“This is one competition that every player has worked so hard and wanted to win the trophy for the first time in 34 years but we failed and it is very painful. I am unhappy. We were the better side and deserve to win the game against Cameroon. Our players did not deserve this painful defeat.”
“They deserve more, but that is football. Anything can happen, and, we are very sad with the situation,” Grant said.
Insiders however tell supersport.com that the former Chelsea manager will not ask for a contract renewal.

The undoing of Ghana is their indiscipline, and a false sense of superiority to other African nations. Nigeria suffered from that, until many adverse results brought us down to earth. The black ‘stars’ should pick themselves up from the dust and plan for the world cup. they should learn to play as a unit, be disciplined – stop sagging and depending on juju, and probably they will qualify for the Mundial
