Amputee football coach laments dearth of competitions
An Assistant Coach to Nigeria
Amputee Football Federation (NAFF), Gbenga Dosumu, yesterday attributed poor response to training by players to a lack of regular competitions.
Dosumu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that lack of
regular competitions had dampened the morale of the players to attend
training sessions.
According to him, the players have been training for a long period without attending competitions to showcase their skills.
“Our training sessions, which hold on daily basis, have dropped drastically as most of the amputee footballers no longer report for
training; even the few that show up are not really committed.
“The players are passionate about their talents and hungry to participate in competitions, but in a case where such has not been
forthcoming, they become discouraged,’’ he said.
