Former Nigerian Professional Football League team, Nembe City has secured an agreement with oil and gas outfit, Aiteo, which will see the energy giant becoming its lead sponsor.

A statement yesterday said the deal is part of Aiteo’s corporate social responsibility (CSR), adding that it was among the special concession the company reached with the Nembe community in Bayelsa State. The concession also includes renaming of the team, Aiteo-Nembe City FC and purchasing a coaster bus for the club.

Other agreements reached with the community include giving the team a lump-sum determined amount for it to register for the Nationwide League and also paying the players and coaching crew as well as to provide Aiteo branded jerseys (two sets for both home and away) and other accessories.

Since Aiteo made inroads into football sponsorship, the company has taken over the CAF Awards, the sponsorship of the Nigeria’s oldest football competition, the Aiteo FA Cup, payment of the Super Eagles coaches, as well as becoming the lead sponsor of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
