A coalition of South-South Women with Disabilities on Thursday called on President Bola Tinubu to appoint Dr. Adenike Tejuosho as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to replace suspended Betty Edu, who is facing with corruption charges.
The physically-challenged women at a press conference in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, said Queen Tejuosho has an outstanding personality that has continued to show compassion, love and affection to the less privileged specifically the persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Nigeria.
Tejuosho, the founder and CEO of Queen Adenike Foundation, a multicultural humanitarian foundation, according to the women has set the pace in the field of humanitarian activities in Nigeria by making life more meaningful for the PWDs and other vulnerable groups in the country which is anchored in line with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Tinubu administration.

Speaking on behalf of over 1,000 disabled women across the geo-political zone, Ada Tari, Chairperson, South-South Women with Disabilities Association, said they are aware the position has been vacant following the suspension of the Minister.
“It is on this point that South-South Women with Disabilities Association seek to recommend and passionately appeal to President Tinubu to appoint one of our own, administrator, a mother and humanitarian who showcase immerse capacity to fill in the vacuum at the Humanitarian Ministry.
“The Association of South-South Women with Disabilities have its members across the Niger Delta Region which comprises all the disability clusters of physically challenged, visually impaired, deaf, people affected by leprosy, spinal cord injury and people with albinism.
Tari stated that people with disabilities are the most vulnerable members of the society, hence the vacuum in the Humanitarian ministry has affected them negatively, reason they are joining other groups and individuals to drum support for Tejuosho.
She said Queen Tejuosho has over the years distinguish herself as a true humanitarian, which prompted their unanimous decision to plead with Mr. President for his kind consideration and quick approval.
She said: “Looking at her track record and if given the opportunity, Tejuosho will continue to extend her generosity and passion by upgrading the living standard of PWDs, the less privileged and vulnerable in Nigeria.
