After successfully conquering the South African music scene as a record label executive and artiste manager, young afro-pop singing artiste, Bright Ukpabi, better known as ‘Mr. Dutch’, is set to storm and take over the Nigerian music space with the release of his official sophomore single’s video She Wants, which dropped on Wednesday, February 14, all premium music sites.

According to him, dropping the video on Valentine’s Day was premeditated, as it was his intent to give lovers something to savour on the day to spice up their romantic imaginations and expression. He said, “It is a love song but I am using the street lyrics to express love for an African woman in a way that everyone can relate to with a slow tempo, R&B, afro-pop feel. The inspiration came from praising the African woman because all around the world African women are known to have beautiful bodies.

“Unlike other women around the world who undergo all sorts of surgery to acquire jaw dropping bodily endowments, African women possess the most attractive feminine endowments and body structure in the world which why I don’t mind spending my money just to appreciate them,” he added. He further explained that he is basically, passing a message to African women telling them how beautiful they are, and appreciating them because they have the best physique and body structure compared to other women around the world.

“She Wants is the music I’m dropping for Valentine. I have another song with Burna Boy coming up soon also. Burna has been very helpful; he has been helping me all along,” he stated. On the comparison between South African music industry and Nigeria, Mr. Dutch wastes not time in pointing out the differences, saying the Nigerian industry has an edge.

“The South African music style is more of house music and hip-hop; it is beautiful but it cannot export itself globally the way Nigerian music has done and does. Although there are people that listen to these songs, but then it cannot break boundaries. Now the secret has been determined, most South African musicians are now doing music with Nigerian artistes; they are joining forces together to push the music across the globe. For example DJ Maphorisa and Wizkid’s Soweto Baby went across the globe. It was one of the biggest songs that time and it won an MTV award. So, you see that it is growing and that is beautiful because Africans are starting to understand the unity in creating music.

“In my own opinion, very soon I don’t think there will be anything like Nigerian and South African music in the future, instead it would be African music because the merge is beautiful. I can listen to Niniola’s Maradona, which is house music and is big in Nigeria and South Africa as well as globally. Nigerians are feeling the house music, while South Africans are feeling the Afro sounds, and everyone is doing things together. If you listen to my song with Da LES that is coming soon, I actually made him speak my language and he spoke Igbo well and it sounded so nice, it is just something different,” he stated.

She Wants video is a creation of Dutch Dreams Records, masterfully produced by Kiddominant with a classic performance visuals directed by SOS. She wants conveys a cool piano strings, subtle music with that high note in between that chills the ears, producing magical effects and sensational feeling,” Mr. Dutch explained.
