THE invitation for the formal announcement was not clear; no detail was given concerning the unveiling ceremony, which was held at the InterContinental Hotel, Victoria Island. But with Koko Master D’banj and R&B singer Banky W linked to the event, it was enough for showbiz reporters to show up.

In what will go down on record as one of the major deals in the country’s showbiz industry, two of Nigeria’s most successful artistes, Banky W and D’Banj, have been signed to represent one of the leading lifestyle brands, CÎROC Ultra-Premium Vodka.

Similar to its international alignment, where CÎROC works with influential & successful talent from around the world, the brand will support Banky W and D’Banj in their career efforts while simultaneously raising their profiles both domestically and internationally.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, where the two artistes were presented to the public, Joe Nazzal, Head of Reserve said, “we are proud to be partnering with Banky W and D’Banj as, together, these personalities embody the CÎROC experience and lifestyle. These two artists are a force to be reckoned with on the international celebration scene, and we are excited for them to join the CÎROC family.”

Described my many as the King of African Soul/R&B, Banky W combines global style with African rhythms and influences to create an entirely unique and impressive sound, which has catapulted him to continental and international acclaim. Aside from his musical success, Banky W is the king of Lagos’ vibrant nightlife scene, and is known as a staple on any exclusive guest list. The EMEboss was also invited to the CÎROC Blue Stone celebration in Ibiza last year, cementing his association with this luxury brand.

On his part, multi-award winning singer-songwriter and entretainer, D’Banj has hit both local and international charts with his fusion of Afrobeat and electronic pop, which also saw him win the Best-selling African Artist title at the World Music Awards last year. Till date, D’Banj remains one of the most successful brands in the country’s showbiz industry, having worked with international acts and featured in major gigs across the globe.

Though they are individually pursuing their music careers, apart from their desire to take African music to the world, both Banky W and D’Banj are also philanthropists, being founders of the I Am Capable Scholarship Fund and Koko Foundation for Youth and Peace Development, respectively.

“CÎROC is a world-renowned celebration brand, known as the drink of choice by international celebrities, to mark their greatest achievements. This is the drink for those who have arrived, and so, CÎROC’s presence firmly places Nigeria on the map as a luxury market economy,” Joe Nazzal added.

Following the announcement, Banky W and D’Banj will be stepping into the circle along with other CÎROC Ambassadors from around the globe. The list includes South African personalities Bonang Matheba, David Tlale, Da L.E.S. and DJ Dimplez, as well as Angola’s DJ Malvado. In the exclusive CÎROC Circle, a collection of magnetic talents that personify the new era of luxury ushered in by the brand.
