Annie-and-2faceWith a career spanning over two decades and great hits, its obvious Innocent ‘2face’ Idibia has marked a personal highlight of 40 years with a concert.

Tagged Fortyfied, the all-star tribute concert was a celebration of all the achievements and career highlights of the super pop star, and held at the Convention Centre, Eko Hotel, Lagos, on Sunday, September 20, 2015.

Anchored by frontline comedian, Bright Okpocha popularly known as Basketmouth, who thrilled the guests with anecdotes and classy brand of humor, the event attracted the stellar names in the industry, with the veterans and the best of the contemporary Nigerian acts performers including OJB, DJ Jimmy Jatt, Wizkid, Skales, Waje, Darey Art Alade, Shaydee, Cobhams Asuquo, M.I Abaga, and DJ Neptune others.

As a celebration of a landmark age and achievement, it is expected that the celebrant is supported by his family, and 2baba’s wife and mother of two, Annie, was visible from beginning to the end of the show. Many had expected African Queen singer other acquaintances like Sumbo Ajaba Adeoye and Pero Adeniyi to show up, but they were conspicuously absent.

Looking all sorts of dashing, 2Face, who turned out in a modern traditional look with a blue velvet loafers and plum cap, was ushered into the venue with his wife, Annie, who chose a glittering sequin detailed floor length number with plunging neckline.

One of the stand-out performances on the night was from talented music producer, Cobhams Asuquo, who performed two of 2face’s songs Dance Floor and One love. With an absolute emotional rendition, he brought everyone close to tears with his depth and purity in his delivery.

The Kokomaster, D’banj made a grand entry with the harmonica, performed a leaked version of a song he did with 2face, I’m Feeling Good, which was produced by former label mate and partner, Don Jazzy. He delivered a stellar performance that got his former partner in Mo’hit and now Mavin Records boss, Don Jazzy on his feet dancing.

He brought back old memories, which forced 2Face to plead on behalf of the fans to make one more hit song together. “Don Jazzy and D’banj, abeg make una do one more song, just one…. I take God beg una.”
D’banj in response said “Sure! It’s going to happen,” but there no response from Don Baba J.
With performances from other top acts like Olamide, M.I, Banky W, Patoranking, 2baba hit the stage for the at about 1:23am, and performed duets with 9ice, Vector, Wizkid and veteran highlife singer, Dr. Victor Olaiya, who 2face had collaborated in the remix of Omo Pupa.
