The GeorgeTHERE are not many places you can find works of art by legendries such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Albrecht Dürer, Pieter Bruegel, Caravaggio and Michelangelo.

There are fewer places that hold large collection of such Renaissance art under one roof. In Nigeria, there is perhaps one place you can find this body of works in eloquent display of beauty and perfection. The George Lagos is it. And lest you think there is a new museum in town.

The George is not built to showcase high art; it is rather a sanctuary of comfort, class and luxury built in the finest architectural form. Yet there is plenty art at each floor of the five story –building hotel.

The curvilinear layout of The George Hotel and the elegance of its exterior, achieved through the application of stone cladding, paint and corner glazing, evince its distinction among other grand properties on Lugard Avenue Ikoyi. Right from the entryway, the class speaks volume.

The smell of divine deodorant, the unassuming color of the wall paint, the rich fabrics of the furnishing, the symmetry of space and fittings, the warmth of the concierges, the friendliness of the front desk staff, the aristocracy of the environment and the bliss that surrounds it, puts The George in a class so rare, yet so real.

The George is no mere erection of blocks and concrete slabs; it is magnificence in standing ovation, exhuding class, comfort and pure luxury. Built on three acres of land, located at No 30 Lugard Avenue, Ikoyi, few metre away from the British council, The George hotel is a 61- room facility on five floors comprising standard and luxury rooms, as well as studio and penthouse suites.

At the head of each room is a king-size bed overlaid with luscious linen and duvet cover with rich texture. Subtle lights overheads cast gentle glow on the furniture made of rich fabrics and entire interior décor themed in different shades of white, gray, and brown colours.

Though the colour combo gives the rooms a quiet character, it is energized by a touch of bright red, offering a delightful break from the solemnity of the overall room.

The rooms are large, yet they seem closer and intimate. The bath décor also comes with simple style emphasized by brilliant white, umber and sand brown.

Other facilities include: a fine dining restaurant, meetings and conference rooms with capacity for up to 75 persons, including an executive board room, business centre; all of them equipped with modern audio visual technology.

The fitness centre and bean-shaped swimming pool also offer a unique experience that can be explained only by in-house guests. The George Hotel, according to the owner, Mr. Tein George, represents “excellence”.

And that is the watchword that will be driving the operation of the hotel in the days ahead. With Mantis Group as managers of The George, things cannot go wrong, said Mr. George. Mantis Group, the world-class manager of boutique hotels is renown for offering guests the ultimate in luxury accommodation.

Guy Johnstone, the hotel manager promised his guests a unique experience that is charming and enduring. The George guests may not ask for less. The George Opens soon.
