Anyaku Umoga: Exit Of A Peace Maker
BORN to the family of Ulu Kalu Ulu of Ndi Ulu compound in Akanu Ukwu autonomous community, Ohafia Local Council of Abia State 45 years ago, Mrs. Anyaku N. Umoga had her early life education in Ukpacha Primary School, Akanu Ohafia from where she moved to Ohafia Girls’ Secondary School.
She, however, completed her secondary education at Akanu Ohafia Secondary School. Finishing with good grades, she went to the School of Arts and Sciense, Uyo, for her A’ Levels before gaining admission into the University of Port Harcourt, Port Harcourt, in 1989 to study Economics.
She later bagged a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Lagos State University (LASU) in 2005. Married in 1997 to Nkabi Kalu Umoga, who also has passed on, Nne, as she was popularly called, started work with the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) in 1999 and served the organisation till her death on May 29, this year. A devout Christian of the Presbyterian faith, Nne got diverse awards from the church for her humanitarian services.
A member of Akumba Age Grade, Akanu Ohafia, she was a peace loving person and an organiser par excellence. Her remains would be interred on Saturday, August 29, this year, at her hometown, Akanu Ohafia, after a funeral service. She is survived by two children, a mother, brothers, sisters and other relations.
