Seyi Shay lands Gionee brand ambassador deal

Slytime artiste and No Le Le singer, Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua, who is well known by her stage name Seyi Shey, has been unveiled by Chinese phone maker, Gionee as its brand ambassador.

Speaking at the ceremony held at the Renaissance Hotel Ikeja, the company Marketing Director, Somoye Habeeb, stated that the choice of the singer was informed by several qualities the she possess as an artiste, which are in tandem with Gionee brand values.

“We had a list to pick from but we wanted somebody that will sell the value we stand for. We needed a popular artiste, beautiful, energetic, of good age and a socially responsible person. We looked at the demography of this artiste and that of our target customers; we also considered the psychographic factors, and Seyi Shay combines all these and that was why she won the chance to be the face of Gionee brand in Nigeria,” Somoye said.

According to Somoye, the Pack and Go singer would be representing Gionee at celebrations, trade displays, exhibitions, and other promotional events. “Her primary function is to be spokesperson for Gionee; she will appear in regional and local media like magazines, periodicals, public shows, television shows, and so on, and advertise the products of the Gionee,” he added.

A visibly excited Seyi Shay expressed her joy at her choice as the face of Gionee and promised to make the brand the biggest in Nigeria by capitalizing on the vast age range of her fan base, which is between 15 to 50 years. She emphasised that the brand matches the uniqueness of her style of music and her personality, adding that she would do everything to make the brand a household name in Nigeria.

As a singer, songwriter, performer, Seyi Shay musical style is a combination of Afropop and R&B with a superb blend of lyrics. She has several musical hits in her kitty including Irawo (20120, Chairman (2013), Murda featuring Patoranking and Shaydee (2014) and Pack and Go (2016).

She has performed in some of the finest A-list events in Nigeria and across Africa, including Big Brother Africa show and the MTV Mama 2015 Awards in Durban, South Africa, where she performed with Grammy-award winning international artiste, Neyo. She was also nominated for Best Female and Best Music Video categories at the MTV Mama 2015 Awards.
