Princess Ronke Ademiluyi, owner and founder of the award-winning fashion platform, Africa Fashion Week London and Nigeria, has just added another feather to her cap.

She was recently honoured by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ogaga II, as the “Heritage ambassador” of the Moremi Ajasoro legacy.

The late ‘Moremi Ajasoro’ is an historical figure of extraordinary dimensions in Ife, whose intervention at a particular point in the history of her domain saved her people, her domain and by extension, their heritage from extinction.

She was appointed by the king as part of moves to add value to the Yoruba culture, which he believes was also going into extinction, and in recognition of Ronke’s efforts at promoting the largest international gathering that celebrates fashion and culture.

In that capacity, she is expected to develop sustainable avenues that would boost the legacies of Queen Moremi and seek strategic partnerships and collaborations, as well as design activities that would promote and sustain Moremi’s enduring legacies.

Rukkies, as she is fondly called, is a London-trained lawyer, who founded the AFWL in London in 2011, which has now grown to become the largest gathering of its kind in the whole of Europe.

The London platform is recognised by the Mayor’s office and has been honoured for what it has achieved over the years.
