WITH just five years of existence in the oil and gas industry, KayJay Energy Services Nigeria Limited has made a name for itself despite the numerous challenges peculiar with the Nigerian business environment. The company is primarily engaged in the supply of skilled Nigerian professionals and logistic support services for both indigenous and foreign based oil and gas companies executing contracts in Nigeria.

Founded by a young and dynamic Nigerian, Mr. Chris Uche Roberts who is driven by passion to provide competent manpower for the nation’s highest revenue generating sector. He took a bold step in actualizing his dreams in 2010 when he left Yomatech Nigeria Limited, formerly Dietsmann Nigeria Limited where he rose from the position of Business Development Executive to Managing Director. He said, “we are into the supply of skilled Nigerian manpower for the oil and gas industry whether on short term or long term basis depending on the client’s request and we manage them in accordance with employment regulations and laws of Nigeria. We have a recruiter’s license from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity. We also provide the same welfare packages with those who are directly employed by multinationals.”

Over the years KayJay Energy has been able to supply skilled professionals for drilling, sea-going and supply tanker vessels, reefers, cargo ships, service boats and production facilities. They are also trained to put safety first by ensuring proper maintenance of clients’ machinery to minimize safety risks and maximize operational efficiency as well as plant productivity. “Our services and selection procedures are of the highest standards.

Our years of experience recruiting for local, national and international clients enable us to minimize time commitment and reduce costs involved in the recruitment process. By focusing on integrity and performance, we have been able to build a reputation in the industry, we don’t cut corners because we play by the rules of integrity. We are not in business for short term gains, our aim is to build a lasting relationship with our clients and it has really helped us based on our clientele which are mostly international companies because they value integrity”, Roberts informed.

A member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, giving an assessment of the local content act, he lamented that the act is yet to be fully actualized practically. According to him, “the act as good as it sounds in theory has not practically turned out as it should. The institutions that are supposed to play regulatory roles are weak and the banks are not helping with adequate funding, so most of the jobs are still done by foreign firms or those who depend on foreign expertise. I hope the new government will be able to empower the regulatory bodies because local content should not be limited to fabrication of pipes and steel ropes, local content should see Nigerians owing their own drill ships.”
