The General Manager of Lagos State Protection Agency (LASEPA), Rasheed Adebola Shabi, hosted top environmentalists, students, top government functionaries and several stakeholders to a grand celebration at Lufasi Nature Park in Ajah area of the state to mark this year’s World Environment Day.

The event afforded many the opportunity to commend the engineer for his advocacy for cleaner environment and his stance for an inclusive green economy in the state.

Speaking at the event, themed, ‘Connecting people to nature,’ Rasheed, who chaired the event, said research shows that connecting to nature is beneficial, as those who spend time in the woods and parks have better physical and mental health than those who did not, just those who live in more natural environmental setting have better overall health.

“It is against this backdrop that I want to invite and encourage all and sundry to practise and promote the attitude of conservation of our natural environment, regular visitation to parks for relaxation and to be more mindful of our actions in relationship with nature, since we stand to benefit or otherwise from the consequence of our actions,” he enthused.

There were presentations by various schools in the state based on the theme of this year’s edition.

There were also enough to eat and drink, as the DJ on the bandstand reeled out good music.
