When Nike Akande Hosted LCCI Women Group To A Business Luncheon

Former Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the incoming President of Lagos Chambers of Commerce and (LCCI) , Chief (Mrs) Nike Akande last week Friday hosted the LCCI Women Group to a lavish maiden edition of women business luncheon to herald her investiture which holds in December.

The event, which took place at the prestigious Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island,Lagos had notable business women such as Mrs Nkechi Obi, the Managing Director of Techno-Oil; Mrs Eniola Fadayomi; former Lagos Deputy Governor, Mrs Adebisi Sarah Sosan; Mrs Olajumoke Fashanu; Yeye (Hon) Adenike Shobajo and several other women in attendance.

The event which coincided with Nike Akande’s birthday, was fill of fun and razzmatazz. Akande in her keynote address said the idea behind the maiden edition of business luncheon is to gather notable women from diverse backgrounds in business and industry together to interact, strategise for the way forward in business and boost women participation in leadership.

She enthused: “After my investiture as president of LCCI, I will harness several credit facilities for most especially Nigerian business women. I will use my power and connection as former director at the Bank of Industry and work out opportunities for adequate growth of our businesses and as a current director in Union Bank Nigeria Plc. It’s my ardent hope that all my effort will come to a reality.”

The Chairperson of the group (Hon) Adenike Shobajo in her address, thankedAkande for the opportunity given to the women group. The women Group of the LCCI is charged with the responsibility of coordinating the activities of the female members of the body in the promotion of their businesses and key projects of the LCCI. The group also arranges programmes geared towards promoting women empowerment and also networks with women organizations at the state, federal and international levels.
