The leadership of Hospitality and Tourism Management Association of Nigeria (HATMAN), Federal Capital Territory Chapter, has tasked the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) to upgrade its academic certificate.

The delegation, led by its chairman, Mr. Amos Opoola, was received by the Director General of the Institute, Mrs. Chika Balogun, on a courtesy visit.

Opoola stated that stakeholders are expectant that certificates awarded by the Institute would be upgraded to the level that it would be identified with in terms of Post-graduate programmes in affiliate tertiary institutions as well as official promotions.

Opoola disclosed that their visit to NIHOTOUR was to felicitate with the D.G on her appointment as the chief executive of the Institute and to key into its programmes and activities that are geared towards the development of the nation’s tourism sector.

The delegation also intimated the D.G of the planned Excellence Award to be conferred on her at the one-day conference that is scheduled for August 19.

Underscoring the import of such conferences and stakehokders meetings where issues relating to the development of the sector are discussed, the leader of the team urged the D.G to avail the management and staff of the Institute the opportunity to participate.

In her response, the D.G informed that the Institute’s certificate is actually recognized by both academic institutions and related agencies in the country.

According to her, different institutions in the country and even foreign institutions accept diploma certificates awarded by NIHOTOUR for admission.

She also commended the body for the planned conference and the proposed award. According to her, such platforms provide avenue for building capacity of members.
She however expressed concern over implementation of resolutions that would be reached at the conference as well as the readiness of participants to adopt lessons from the meeting.

Describing the August Conference as a good initiative, she pledged the support of her Institute towards a successful outing.
