Hundreds of students from across Ideato North and Ideato South Federal Constituency of Imo State have benefited from Equity Foundation’s Free WAEC, NECO and JAMB Registration Exercise courtesy of Dr. Paschal Chigozie Obi, the founder and financier of Equity Foundation.

With passion for academic excellence, the non-governmental organisation, which came into existence some years ago, has become a major source of succor to poor parents, who cannot afford to register their wards for external examinations. As part of its give back, the foundation has taken it upon itself to touch the lives of these indigent students despite their background or religious inclinations.

Speaking at the formal presentation of the scholarship to the lucky students, Dr. Obi reiterated his resolve to sustain the initiative, as long as he lives, adding that it gladdens his heart to see the downtrodden make it in life through his support and encouragement.

While promising to increase the number of beneficiaries on yearly basis, he recalled, “I started by registering for one indigent candidate in all the fifty five autonomous communities in Ideato nation, but now, I have decided to register for anybody that emerge successful in Equity Foundation screening test, irrespective of the number of people that are successful from that community. We must support the free education policy of the rescue mission government in Imo,” he said.

On her part, the President of Equity Foundation and wife of the founder Lady Jennifer Ifeoma Obi expressed her happiness for the successful free holiday class by the foundation, where the successful candidates were selected through a thorough screening.

She thanked all guests present for their faith in Equity Foundation and promised to support her husband in all his philanthropic gestures.

All the candidates, who received their cheques at the ceremony, as well as their parents and teachers, expressed their joy and equally prayed for their benefactor for more blessings from God.

The Equity Foundation scholarship programme has helped to ameliorate the level of illiteracy in the zone. The initiative is part of the organisation’s contribution to the rescue mission of His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha of Imo State.
