Diamond Bank, Eventful Limited, host Beauty Souk in Lagos

Leading makeup entrepreneurs, beauty enthusiasts as well as hair and skin care experts were recently hosted to a beauty, hair and products fair in Lagos.Participants came from all over the country to showcase the latest and best the world of beauty has to offer.

Leading makeup entrepreneurs, beauty enthusiasts as well as hair and skin care experts were recently hosted to a beauty, hair and products fair in Lagos.Participants came from all over the country to showcase the latest and best the world of beauty has to offer. Tagged The Beauty Souk, it was sponsored by Diamond Bank and the Lagos Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) in collaboration with Eventful Limited.

The massive event, which had almost 70 vendors present, drew cosmetologists, beauty practitioners and industry observers to learn, network and shop.Beauty professionals and vendors offered a wide range of products and services such as make-up, human hair, wigs, and hair extensions, aesthetics, cosmetic medicine, skincare products, lashes, brows, nails, spas etc.

Several celebrities were present and were made over by some of the participants. The celebrities include Adesuwa Onyenokwe, Lala Akindoju, Juliana Olayode, Damilola Adegbite Attoh, Kate Henshaw, Joke Silva, Chigul and a host of others. Raffle draws were held with winners going home with amazing prizes and freebies.

There was also a big reveal as Tara Fela-Durotoye launched a new product, the Tara Diamond Dust for Jide of St. Ola.Master classes also held where life and business changing issues were discussed. Classes discussed hair care, skin care, tapping into the shea butter business, air brushing for make-up artists and building structure in the makeup business.

Speaking at the event, Head of Corporate Communications, Diamond Bank Plc, Chioma Afe, said the bank is happy to partner with Eventful to organize the fair, emphasizing their role in supporting SMEs with a wide selection of financial products and services that cater specifically to the needs of women, empower and enable them to take their rightful place in the economy. She also added that the fair was conceived to give female entrepreneurs access to new markets and is a further demonstration of the Bank’s drive to their bankonher campaign.

She added that most of the vendors were indigenous brands, manufacturing with locally sourced ingredients, in line with the focus on made-in-Nigeria goods.She encouraged young entrepreneurs not to give up on their dreams, ensure they partner with Diamond bank, and other big brands to get the upfront needed for success.

Speaking with The Guardian, CEO Eventful Limited and Convener of The Beauty Souk, Yewande Zaccheaus, said it has always been her dream to host a niche fair for beauty enthusiasts and she was excited, as it has become a reality. Describing the beauty industry as one of the most vibrant and rewarding sectors with opportunities for entrepreneurs, she revealed this platform was created to connect the various players in the beauty industry with beauty enthusiasts.

One of the participants, Chidinma Kalu said: “I am so happy to be here at this event because everybody is learning new things about makeup, things you don’t know, you get to know them. I also seized the opportunity to get original beauty products at cheaper rates and a lot of freebies to go away with.”

The participating brands gave away numerous freebies ranging from makeup tutorials to beauty makeovers as well as discounted products. Some of the brands include IBI’s Beauty Bar, BMPro, Zaron Cosmetics, Casabella, House of Tara, L.A Girl Nigeria, Classic Makeup, Tresses, Kuddy Cosmetics amongst others.
